A new viral dance has taken over the sporting world and is being performed by America's biggest athletes, but you'd never guess who inspired it.

It's not often that a celebration spreads like wildfire, from golf to soccer, and even mixed martial arts, but an unexpected dad dance was spotted at the popular stadium this weekend.

Widespread dances in the past were modern and modern, but this new craze is quite the opposite.

Donald Trump's famous dad dance has moved off the rally stages and taken the sports world by storm.

The president-elect went viral on the campaign trail for raising his fists in the air while swaying his hips from side to side.

Trump often pulled his moves to the tunes of the YMCA, but these athletes did so to the cheers of their fans.

Although it has been popular for months, the dance took off in the sports world only this weekend, following the Republican's victory over Kamala Harris.

American footballer Nick Bosa did a viral dance with his San Francisco 49ers teammates, the weekend after Trump's victory.

Bosa started a trend in the NFL with more players pulling daddy moves this weekend.

Raiders tight end Brock Powers told USA Today what inspired him to break out the Trump-inspired dance on Sunday.

“I've seen everyone do it,” he said.

“I watched the UFC fight last night and Jon Jones did it. I love watching the UFC so I saw it and thought it was great.

The president-elect also watched Jon Jones' moves himself, who was in attendance at UFC 309 on Saturday, at Madison Square Garden.

The fighter went to Trump, who sat next to his new friend Elon Musk, to shake his hand, allowing the president-elect to hold the heavyweight title belt.

The most high-profile offer to date was from the US men's soccer team and AC Milan star Christian Pulisic.

Pulisic broke into the so-called Trump dance after his first goal in the team's 4-2 win over Jamaica on Monday in St. Louis, Missouri.

It was not clear whether these moves were political or just a sensation.

Pulisic was quick to stress that his handover is “not a political dance” according to The Athletic.

“I saw everyone doing it yesterday in the NFL, and I saw Jon Jones doing it, and we were having some fun,” he said.

“I thought it was a very fun dance.”

However, Bosa has not confirmed the intent behind his dance, despite being an outspoken Trump supporter, according to CNN Sports.

“All the guys wanted me to do it,” he said. I wasn't going to do it, but the boys reminded me. And it was fun.

The former NFL star was fined more than $11,000 for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in a postgame interview, but the athletic council did not consider the latest trend political.

Global trend

This trend was not limited to American athletes, as British golfer Charlie Hall performed the dance at a tournament in Florida.

The dance was not limited to American soil as some athletes showed their transfer abroad.

British footballer Stephen Humphreys also did the Trump dance after his team, Barnsley, tied against Fulham.
