Tom Brady faces more restrictions on his broadcasting role with Fox.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion, 47, began his role as NFL Network's top analyst at the start of this season.
He is part of their first team alongside Kevin Burkhart and Erin Andrews.
Last week, it was confirmed that he is a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, which has complicated his situation with Fox somewhat.
His 10-year contract with the network is worth $375 million.
But given his dual role now with the Raiders, Brady is limited in what he can and cannot do in his broadcast position.
The former legendary midfielder is prohibited from criticizing officials or other teams.
While now he cannot gamble or even participate in radio production meetings.
Brady is subject to the NFL's anti-tampering policy, which complicates interactions with active players.
He recently interviewed Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.
Per Sports Business Journal, the NFL's finance committee is set to consider whether interviews like Brady's should be subject to more “scrutiny.”
His conversations with players may be limited to the screen only, so that the content of the chats is known to the public.
Brady may be asked to conduct such interviews away from team training facilities and even hotels.
His ownership stake in the Raiders also put an end to any lingering hopes of Brady coming out of retirement.
He officially announced his retirement in February 2023, following a stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Those with ownership stakes in the teams can't play, ending faint hopes that Brady could take the field again.
“full circle”
Despite the complexities of his broadcasting role, Brady is excited to enter the world of NFL ownership.
“Football was a part of my entire life growing up in the Bay Area, and in many ways, my life and football journey has come full circle,” he said.
“I love sports, and I love my teammates, coaches, and fans in every organization I've been a part of.
“Sports brings us together in a way that nothing else can.
“I grew up on the field, and it is a blessing to know that I will be playing in the greatest league in the world for the rest of my life.”
Brady was most recently in touch with the Green Bay Packers' 20-19 win over the Chicago Bears last weekend.
