risk! Fans told Ken Jennings to “calm down” after the host provided an “awkward” moment as the returning champion lost his third match.
Mahal Shah, a software engineer from Seattle, Washington, was looking to extend his winning streak, but his third match ended in a bizarre moment with the host.
Returning champion Mehal, a two-day winner, pocketed a staggering $46,062 in winnings.
He faced off against Adam Hirsch, a lawyer from Brooklyn, New York, and Courtney Schooley, a preschool teacher from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mahal got off to another great start at the top of today's match and entered the Double Jeopardy! Round the lead for $7,200.
His lead increased when he added $4,000 to his total balance with an accurate double daily guess.
However, Adam got his money's worth with numerous correct answers and quick reactions – leading to them exchanging clues throughout the game.
Adam's score only improved when he found the other daily pairings and answered them accurately.
Heading into Final Jeopardy!, Adam maintained his lead with $16,600 while Mehal wasn't far behind with $14,400.
Courtney remained in third place throughout the match, but was awarded a staggering $8,400 by the final round.
Host Ken, 50, revealed the category was 'movies and psychology' where the trio placed their bets.
In this film, Paula Ahlquist says to Gregory Anton: “Are you crazy, husband? Or am I the crazy one?'' reads the final clue.
Adam and Courtney were right in writing “What's a Gaslight?”
Courtney nearly doubled her total to finish with $16,601 while Adam won the game with a prize pool of $29,000.
Mihal looked frustrated because he knew he was wrong in submitting the question “What is a foie de deux?”
Although Ken seemed annoyed at the moment, Ken took the time to make a joke at the moment.
“What is Folie de Deux? The Joker movie?” Ken asked with a laugh while Mihal shrugged disappointingly.
“Not true. What did you bet? Everything. You go down to zero,” the host added.
Kane was jokingly referring to the recently released Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix film, Joker: Folie à deux.

Fans noticed the snide comment from Kane – even if the moment seemed inappropriate.
“Joker movie?” “LOL damn it ken chill,” one person wrote.
“Did anyone else think Ken's Joker joke was awkward timing? I know he didn't mean anything by it, but Mihal looked so sad.”
Another said: “Read the room, not the time to joke around when his dream is shattered.”
Given that Mahal lost in his third match, he likely missed out on scoring an invitation to the Tournament of Champions.
However, there are still two places remaining for the highly coveted tournament, so the final players who qualify for it will be determined through upcoming matches.
