Michael Strahan announced a new career venture in motorsports live on Fox NFL Sunday.
Michael Strahan is joining Indycar for a special event in the 2025 season.
During the Week 12 episode of Fox NFL Sunday, the show's staff announced that Fox will host the Indianapolis 500 in 2025.
As part of the announcement, Curt Minifie announced that Michelle Strahan would be running in the race.
“Michael Strahan will actually drive the Indy 500 this year,” Minifie said.
While Strahan does not drive an actual Indycar car, he does drive the pace car that will lead drivers around the track before the race begins.
“I can't get into it,” Strahan said, motioning to IndyCar.
Strahan led his teammates away from the race car and into the pace car to explain how he would drive in the race.
“Corvette ZR1, this is my ride here,” he said.
“I'm going to drive the fast car, I love this car, this is a rad car!”
Strahan revealed that he doesn't know how fast he will be allowed to drive, but he is excited to lead the pack.
“I don't know Kurt, and I don't know if they're going to tie me up or what,” he said.
“But I'll see what we got here, I know this is a great car.
“I know all the drivers are behind me because I'm leading the pace.
“We'll see if they can keep up.”
Minifie shared that he thought it was very cool that Strahan could drive the car around the track instead of sitting in the passenger seat.
The 2025 Indy 500 is the race's 109th running, and will be held on Sunday, May 25.
Josef Newgarden has won the last two races and will look to make it three times next year.
