A theater actor collapsed and died on stage in front of a crowd of stunned people while performing 'A Christmas Carol'.

Julian Arnold, 60, died unexpectedly at the Citadel Theater in Edmonton, Canada, on November 24.

The tragic accident occurred around 8pm on Sunday.

Paramedics tried to revive the actor to no avail, and he was pronounced dead at the theater.

The cause of his death was not revealed.

Arnold was playing the characters Marley and Mr. Fezzwig in the play.

Citadel Theater executives Jesse Van Rijn and Darryl Cloran praised the actor, according to CBC News.

“His presence brought joy, heart and depth to every role, and his artistic contributions – and big hugs – will be sorely missed,” they said.

They added that Arnold was beloved by his cast mates and was a valued member of Edmonton's theater community.

The Ppointate Theater, where his wife, Shaini Satanoff, is managing director, shared a heartbreaking tribute to the beloved actor.

“Julian was a cherished member of the Edmonton theater community whose warmth, talent and generosity touched the lives of many,” the statement read.

“He leaves behind many loved ones including his loving wife, Sheni Satanoff, the theater director, who now faces the enormous challenge of moving forward without him.”

The Canadian actor is best known for founding the Free Will Players Shakespeare theater company.

He grew up in Edmonton and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1989.
