Dolph Lundgren is finally cancer free!
The Swedish actor, 67, shared a welcome health update with his fans after enduring a grueling nine-year battle with cancer and doctors gave him just two years to live.
Lundgren posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday in which he revealed that he was undergoing a pneumonectomy — a procedure that destroys cancer cells through hot or cold energy.
“I'm here at UCLA, and I'm about to go in and get rid of this last tumor,” he said. “Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I believe I will be cancer-free, so I am looking forward to this procedure.”
“It's been a tough journey and it's really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life. I mean that's the only way to go.”
The “Rocky IV” actor commented on the clip, saying: “Finally free from cancer with gratitude and excitement for a bright future. Thank you for all your support always.”
Reposting the video on his Instagram account, the actor added: “Thank you for all your wonderful messages and supportive comments. It will take a little more than that to break me…”
Lundgren revealed that he was in the midst of a “serious” cancer battle in May 2023.
“They discovered a tumor in my kidney, and they removed it here in Los Angeles in 2015,” he said last year. “But then they did a biopsy, and it was cancerous.”
After discovering the initial tumor, the “Expendables” actor said, fighting back tears, that he had scans every six months, then every year, which he said were “good.”
But in 2020, Lundgren began experiencing what he thought was acid reflux.
It turned out to contain more tumors, including one that had developed in Lundgren's liver. He was preparing to film a project in Alabama at the time.
“At that point, it started to occur to me that this was kind of serious,” he recalls.
Lundgren said his doctor gave him two or three years to live and recommended he take a break from work and spend more time with his family.
“It wasn't like I was bitter about it,” he said. “It was like, you know, I feel sorry for my kids and my fiancée and the people around you.”
The ordeal gave the “Creed II” star a new appreciation for life.
