Netflix mocked over Wednesday Addams float at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

Addams' new float for Wednesday was different from what fans of the show expected when it debuted at the 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Based on the 2022 Netflix drama, the float was among 22 new floats that hit the rainy parade in New York City on Thursday morning. However, many declared that Jenna Ortega's character's giant balloon looked “more like Thursday than Wednesday.”

Social media users did not hesitate to mock the live streaming giant with balloon-sized criticism.

Another person previously joked on Twitter: “I don't know what day of the week it is but it's not Wednesday.” “Not my Wednesday,” echoed another.

“She's not in the mood for Thanksgiving… instead of Halloween?” joked the third critic. “It sounds weird, if you don't mind me being honest,” another naysayer shared.

Some suggested that Wednesday's inexpressive appearance lent energy to “Squid Game.”

“I really thought this was an ad for the new Squid toy,” one comparer wrote. “Squid Games vibe haha,” another person replied, while a third chimed in: “Now we just need Squid Games to look like it's Wednesday and we're at work.”

Others mocked the discrepancy in the day of the week.

“Having a huge show on Wednesdays in a show that runs exclusively on Thursdays makes me laugh so hard for some reason,” they posted.

Netflix's supernatural drama Wednesday — which stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, and OG Wednesday Christina Ricci — debuts on Netflix in November 2022.

Ortega will reprise her lead role as the obsessive and emotionally reserved Wednesday Addams in season two, which is scheduled for release in late 2025.

The first season of “Wednesday” received numerous awards and earned four Emmy Award nominations and one Outstanding Contemporary Costume win for a series.

Wednesday's float isn't the only incident at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.

Al Roker made a huge mistake when he revealed spoilers for “Wicked” on air while interviewing Idina Menzel. Viewers also accused producers of making the famous weatherman “dirty” by making him appear miniature in a small chair next to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

Late night host Jimmy Fallon was also criticized for wearing a strange pair of sunglasses despite the rain and overcast skies in the city.

Thursday marked Messi's 98th and final Day Parade as a pole. In September, she announced her plan to retire from the “Today” show after 26 years at NBC. She will continue in her duties until next year when she will be replaced by Craig Melvin. Kotb's last show will be on January 10.
