James Van Der Beek, who revealed earlier this month that he had been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, took time on Turkey Day to acknowledge how grateful he is for “this new relationship I have with my body.”
Van Der Beek posted a photo of his “blonde army” on Instagram on November 28 and wrote how “it's been a tough year…and I'm grateful for that.” Colorectal cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the colon or rectum. This type of cancer affects the large intestine and digestion, and the lifetime risk of developing it for men is 1 in 23. Early versions of the disease begin as non-cancerous forms called polyps.

“I'm grateful for this new relationship I have with my body, and what I feed it. I'm grateful for every one of you who has reached out and sent good vibes and prayers.
