A mother was shocked after discovering her four-year-old son used her main Amazon account to order 52 boxes of SpongeBob SquarePants lollipops.
Four-year-old Noah Ruiz asked for as many snowflakes as he could while he was alone using his mother's computer earlier in the day.
According to The Mirror, he ordered the lollipops using his mother's Amazon account without her knowledge.
He was using his mother's computer for distance learning after his iPad stopped working.
Looking back, I now realize that there were signs of what he did.
“He kept saying the number ‘51.’ “He walked around all day saying ‘51, 51,’” Noah’s mother Jennifer Bryant recalled to The Mirror.
But Bryant didn't pay much attention to it because Noah often repeated things due to his diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Bryant shares an Amazon Prime account with her sister, who called her that afternoon after three huge boxes were delivered to her home.
She was making a fuss and cursing, and she said to me, “You know, you really should stop asking for all this stuff.”
Jennifer Bryant
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I said.
That's when Bryant realized what her son had done.
Amazon will not take the straws, which cost just under $2,619, as they were from a third-party seller.
Bryant began to panic, unsure of how to pay bills or tuition this semester for her three children.
Mass campaign
One of Bryant's friends started a GoFundMe campaign for her to help cover some of the costs.
The campaign was able to cover the costs within 24 hours.
But donations far exceeded the initial goal.
Bryant said she plans to use the extra money to cover Noah's education.
She hopes to have enough money to send him to private school.
For now, Noah hopes to meet SpongeBob in person one day.
