Nearly 30 years later, Dane Cook still laments his failure to capture comedic greatness.
The comedian admitted he “definitely felt like I let myself down” as he recently considered skipping his audition Saturday Night Live Early in his career after having a panic attack outside a building.

He said he was discovered during some of his stand-up performances shortly after Adam Sandler left the NBC comedy show in 1995. “I messed up that day,” Cook recalled.
“I also knew from a few friends who were on the show that it was more confrontational, and I was very experimental at the time,” he added. “And I said to myself, 'I'm not going to be able to fight for skits. I can barely, you know, order my food… to a waiter at lunch. I'm not going to be able to survive.' SNL“.
Although Cook never made it to the cast SNLHe hosted the program twice in 2005 and 2006.
