Two-time Oscar nominee, his Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew It premiered Monday, and he recently reflected on his early years as an actor making mid-budget films, which he says currently represent a “huge hole” in the entertainment industry.
“I mean I feel very lucky because when I got into this business, they were having so much success [mid-budget films]Lu told the Associated Press. “And some of those early films that I made with people like Anthony (Mingella), looking back now, it's remarkable that we were allowed to get away with that. But it's also an era, it's a kind of film and a kind of storytelling that I think we're missing. The right kind of budget, time and patience for stories like this is definitely the essence of filmmaking, and I think it's a big gap right now.
Minghella directed a law regarding The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Cold mountain (2003) and Breaking and entering (2006), earning Academy Award nominations for the actor in his first two collaborations.
Law previously admitted that he “probably got paid too much money” for his 2004 film Two thousandHe explained to British GQ magazine that he was in a “really strong position” at the time after being nominated for a second time, and now considers the new version a “bad move.”
