Carjackers stole a vehicle left running — with a 4-year-old girl in the back seat — while her mother was running an errand in Queens Friday night, cops said.
The 31-year-old mother arrived at a laundromat near 101st Street and 113th Street in South Richmond Hill just after 4:30 p.m., leaving her car running and her 4-year-old child unattended in the back seat, according to police sources. .
That's when two men took the opportunity to jump into a red 2023 Acura Integra, where they drove off with the child still strapped into the back seat, according to the NYPD.
The little girl and the car would be found at 101st Street and Sanders Place just after 7 p.m.
Police sources told The Post that the girl was not injured and did not seek medical treatment at any hospital after being evaluated by emergency medical teams.
The photos show the young man seemingly unfazed by the ordeal. She gave photographers at the scene a slight smile and held up a puffy green rubber glove.
The girl even hugged a smiling police officer.
Her mother showed signs of relief and distress — and appeared to be coherent as she sat in the back of an EMS vehicle after being reunited with her daughter.
The kidnappers are still at large. They face grand larceny charges and could face kidnapping-related charges in the future, according to police sources.
The investigation is ongoing.
This was the second Big Apple car theft involving a child in as many days.
A father was putting his 7-year-old son into his running car at 1540 McDonough Place in the Country Club section of the Bronx on Thursday when he turned to get his other child, who was just steps away, sources told The Post.
An unknown man jumped into the driver's seat and sped off. The car and the boy were recovered near Tileston and Wright streets in the town's Eastchester neighborhood. The sources added that the child was not injured and was reunited with his parents.
The alleged car thief remains at large.
