Exclusive: Xavier Samuel and Sonal Sehgal were chosen to captain Great departure.
Produced by Arvind Reddy's KVR Productions and directed by Camera d'Or nominee Pierre Villemont, the film is currently in post-production having been shot entirely in India. Sehgal wrote the script during the lockdown, and was originally titled the film Travelers.
The plot explores patriarchy in society through the perspective of a man and a woman who meet by chance in Varanasi, and have very different experiences while on the same road trip where they fall in love. Samuel (Eclipse: eclipse) and Seagal (Ashayin) a star.
“Growing up in a patriarchal society and with a set of parents who encouraged my fiercely independent streak, I often found myself torn between how I was raised and what society expected of me, and hence I went to cinema as a form of expression,” Segal said of the script.
The film also serves as a relaunch platform for KVR Productions, the Indian production house run by Arvind Reddy, the grandson of famous South Indian director KV Reddy, who died in 1972. “And the script hit the ropes,” Arvind Reddy said. “Through our conversation, we have ensured gender equality across all departments.”

Earlier this week, we revealed that he was one of several cast members in Minka Kelly's romantic comedy for Netflix, Champagne problems. He was also a series regular on the TNT drama Tell me your secrets.
“I was very moved by Sonal's script, his humanity and his unflinching focus on the realities of life in India, especially for women,” Samuel said. “The film has a strong heart. The drama, the romance, it all jumps off the page. Two characters from completely different realities find common ground together and fall in love in the end. An ode to that fleeting coincidence that changes who you are.”
French director Villemont, who was shooting in India for the first time, added: “From the cast, crew, drivers, security personnel, assistants and chefs, this dream team was perfectly organized and enabled the creative team to deliver the best results. Great scenario.”
The film was nominated for the 2016 Camera d'Or Close to Zsigmond Villas. His 2022 movie Jerry Schatzberg, landscape photo It was premiered in Venice.
