ALDI will conduct mass closures soon, forcing holiday shoppers to head elsewhere for their grocery needs.

The department store chain has more than 2,100 locations in 38 states, and each one will close its doors for 24 hours.

This may not surprise consumers who have been frequenting Aldi for years, as it is typically closed on several key dates, according to its website.

Each is a holiday — including Christmas, which is quickly approaching in just 21 days.

Customers desperate to get holiday meal ingredients, gifts or any other items they might need from Aldi will not be able to shop in-store on December 25, as the day celebrates and gives employees time to celebrate with their loved ones.

Additionally, Aldi will have limited hours in its stores on Christmas Eve.

It would be wise for customers to double-check their local Aldi hours in advance to confirm hours, as they are subject to change from state to state and store to store.

They can then adjust their shopping plans to head to their nearest Aldi during limited hours on Christmas Eve or after Christmas Day on December 26.

Warehouse problems

There won't be any help for competitors like Costco either on December 25.

The warehouse retailer also recognizes that this is a time for employees to celebrate with friends and family.

Costco's more than 600 locations across the United States will be closed throughout the day.

Hours will also vary on Christmas Eve at Costco stores.

Some have listed limited hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but shoppers should, again, confirm the hours of operation at their nearest location.

Aldi and Costco aren't alone in their Christmas closures, as Publix, Sam's Club, Trader Joe's, Wegman's and Winn Dixie will be closed over the holiday.

Retail giants like Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Kohl's, Macy's, Target and Walmart will follow suit.

However, this is the busiest shopping season of the year, with the average American expected to spend between $900 and $2,100 on gifts and supplies, according to CBS News.

That means some will remain open on Christmas Day — including Bravo, Giant, Duane Reade and CVS supermarkets and select Walgreens, Wawa and Circle K locations.

Casey's General Store, Cumberland Farms, Starbucks, 7-Eleven and Safeway are also scheduled to open on December 25.

Hours will still vary by location and state and will likely be limited.

Many retailers are offering great deals on merchandise as the holiday approaches.

At least four Christmas trees at Walmart start as low as $38.

Shoppers are also going crazy over Target's $5 Christmas mugs.
