Exclusive: Piano lesson Emerging Skylar Aleece Smith has signed with Cultivate Entertainment Partners to star.
Smith plays the pivotal supporting role of Maretha V piano lesson, Adapted from August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, starring Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, Danielle Brooks, and Ray Fisher. The film, directed by Malcolm Washington and which won the Ensemble Tribute Award at the Gothams Festival earlier this week, explores family legacy and the weight of history. The film is produced by Denzel Washington and Academy Award winner Todd Black (Fences, Ma Rainey's black bottom), and Katia Washington (Fences, Magazine for Jordan).
Smith's credits also include Antoine Fuqua's apocalyptic drama feature release, Starring Will Smith.
