A Costco shopper urged the chain to take a page from its competitor's playbook, making the checkout experience more efficient.
The member warned the wholesale giant that it needs to embrace the technology before the new year.
The shopper, known only as Troy, tore down the chain, claiming that the experience it offers is like 2005, according to the X post.
“You'll all need to join us, upgrade your e-commerce experience, and check out in-app like Sam's Club!” He said.
He stressed that Sam's Club, which has 600 warehouses across the country, is constantly updating its payment methods and rolling out new technology.
Sam's Club is one retailer that has rolled out scan-and-go technology.
The tool allows shoppers to scan each item they put in their baskets instead of waiting in a traditional checkout line.
Shoppers can pay for items using the chain's internal app, which allows for contactless payments.
This means shoppers can avoid the relatively embarrassing situation at checkout where they realize they've forgotten their credit cards.
Sam's Club is also pioneering new checkout technology that means shoppers don't have to show receipts.
This contradicts intelligenceh Costco, where receipt checks have proven to be a problem that has angered some shoppers.
All Sam's Club shoppers have to do is pass through an airport-style scanner, and their purchases are verified.
This means that employees do not have to check the shopping cart individually.
Sam's Club has ensured that all shoppers can pass through the scanners, not just those who used Scan and Go.
Shoppers have been warned to make sure their goods remain unbagged so cameras can check each product.
Most receipt checks will be completely voided, but employees may still need to check coupons if any discrepancies occur.

Earlier this year, Sam's Club bosses said they aimed to install scanners in all 600 of their warehouses by the end of the year.
Bosses have spoken frequently about the effects scanners have on shoppers' experiences.
Customers now leave the store 23% faster, according to the company.
“Both Checkout and Scan & Go technology Driving “New levels of convenience and increased member satisfaction among members,” Todd Garner, chief product officer at Sam's Club, said in a statement.
“Whether it's a single item or a full basket, we're revolutionizing the checkout experience.”
The technology was rolled out at four Austin Sam's Club warehouses earlier this year, and officials said there were “no hiccups,” the San Antonio Express-News reported.
However, the US Sun reported how some shoppers described the scanners as a waste of money.
