Chalamet didn't choose a legendary underdog like U.S. Olympic hockey team captain Mike Eruzione. No insider of color chose Ted Lasso. The 28-year-old didn't even choose someone close to his age.
“How about the biography of Ernie Johnson, host? Inside the NBA?”
Johnson, for those who don't know, is the 68-year-old host of the Emmy Award-winning TNT show. However, Johnson, known more for his colorful ties and cool demeanor than his laid-back nature, is nonetheless a very considered choice, whether Chalamet is serious about this or not.

The six-time Emmy Award winner and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer is treated with great respect — and called “The Godfather” — by his family. Inside the NBA Regiments Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith. Johnson's career has included everything from working on the FIFA World Cup to hosting TNT's NFL and Wimbledon coverage to playing the Olympics and playing MLB and PGA golf by play.
Johnson is also a devout Christian and, along with his wife Cheryl, has adopted four children, including Michael, who came from a Romanian orphanage. Michael was slightly autistic and was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He died at the age of 33 but not before his infectious “I love you too” mantra, which Michael shared with everyone he met, had “touched more people than I ever hoped he would,” according to his father.

“You never know,” Chalamet replied modestly, “maybe he already has a short list of people that I'm not on.”
Meanwhile, the actor's next project is A24 Marty Supremewhere he will play the role of professional ping pong player Marty Raisman. The film is directed by Josh Safdie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ronald Bronstein. Then there Dune: Christis also on Chalamet's agenda in the near future.
