Dramatic footage has captured the moment a glider was lifted to safety after a horrific mid-air collision on the Sunshine Coast.
A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesman said the woman became entangled with a paraglider in a mid-air collision on Sunday, with both falling 30 meters (98 feet) down a sandy slope.
The gliders flying with the couple landed on the beach and raced back up the cliff to help them.
The woman in her 50s suffered injuries to her abdomen and back, while the man in his 60s was unharmed.
The injured glider was flown from its landing site on Noosa's North Shore, where a Lifeflight Rescue helicopter was dispatched at approximately 2:45 p.m.
The helicopter crew lifted a QAS paramedic and a LifeFlight rescue crew to the woman.
She was assisted in her treatment by an off-duty Australian Defense Force doctor who began first aid.
The woman's condition stabilized and she was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for treatment.
