The BBC has had a prosperous festive period, taking every spot in the list of the ten best-watched TV shows on Christmas Day.
As expected, Gavin and Stacey: The End It attracted the largest overall audience, attracting 64.75% of the potential audience and an average audience of 12.3 million (figures provided by Overnights.TV)
In second place is Aardman Animation's long-awaited new feature film, Wallace and Gromit: The Revenge of Most Birdswinning a 53% share and an average audience of 9.38 million.
In third place was the kingIt is the King's annual television speech, in which Charles thanked his medical staff for their care of him and his family this year, while he was undergoing cancer treatment. Its broadcast received 44% of the show's views, with 5 million viewers.
The highest rated television soap of the day was the early evening edition of EastEnderswith an audience share of 37.3% and an audience of 4.4 million.
The highest ranked show not broadcast by the BBC was the long-running ITV series Coronation Street – which debuted at number 11 on the most-watched list – as actress Helen Worth has a backstory after 50 years of appearing on the show.
Other BBC programs that appeared in the top ten included: Call your midwife (4.4 million), Doctor Who (4.1 million), Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special (4 million), the subsequent evening episode of EastEnders (3.98 million) children's cartoons toddler (3.23 million) and in the afternoon Weakest Link: Christmas private (3 million).
Rounding out the top ten of the most watched shows in the UK on Christmas Day was ITV Evening Newsgaining an audience of 2.46 million.
