The trial of Ryan Wesley Roth — the man accused of trying to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump in South Florida in September — has been postponed to September 2025.

The Associated Press reported that US District Judge Eileen Cannon set the date after Roth's defense team requested it be postponed until next December. Previously scheduled for February 10, 2025.

Roth, 58, of Hawaii, has pleaded not guilty.

Ryan Roth's trial will begin on Sept. 8 instead of the previously scheduled Feb. 10, 2025, U.S. District Judge Eileen Cannon said in an order issued Monday.

Prosecutors believe Roth planned the assassination attempt for weeks near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach. An AK-47 weapon was found at the scene, along with a Go Pro camera, as well as two backpacks that had been hung on a fence.

Secret Service agents shot Roth, who dropped the weapon and fled.

Roth had delivered a box to the home of an unidentified witness several months before the assassination attempt that included a letter titled “Dear World,” in which Roth wrote: “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I let you down. I did my best and gave him all the gumption I could muster.” It is now up to you to finish the job; I will offer $150,000 to whoever can complete the job.”

“He ended relations with Iran like a child and now the Middle East has collapsed,” Roth added, apparently referring to Trump. The witness had contacted law enforcement authorities on September 18, three days after the incident at Trump International Airport, to inform them of the fund. It also included ammunition, a metal pipe, various building materials, tools, four phones and various letters, according to the Public Prosecution.
