News that top US intelligence officials in 2021 suppressed research pointing to a Chinese laboratory leak as the origin of the coronavirus raises two key questions: Who exactly, and why?
That is, who made the call to keep DoD and FBI input out of President Biden's August 2021 briefing on the issue, and out of the resulting official federal finding that the coronavirus likely arose naturally?
Indeed, do we also block Senator Charles Grassley's requests for defense research?
We know that Dr. Anthony Fauci and his public health colleagues have struggled from the beginning to discredit all talk of the lab leak.
they The motive is clear enough: since they had funded relevant research (at least) in the Wuhan lab, they feared a backlash—against them personally, and/or against such research and its funding.
But why the United States? Intelligence community A cover for Beijing, which clearly bears the main blame for cooking up the plague and then unleashing it on an unsuspecting world?
The most likely explanation is this someone I decided that the rest of the world would also blame the US government as a whole, perhaps even more than China's rulers did – so it was best to cover it all up.
It may have been within President Biden's legitimate authority to make this decision, but not anyone else's.
Not the shadowy coterie of White House aides who made so many important decisions under this weak president, nor Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence who led the review that produced the deceptive “consensus” result, nor any other intelligence chief.
The purpose of every U.S. intelligence agency is to provide the best possible information across the chain of command, so that the president and his chosen representatives can make the best possible decisions.

Clearly, Congress, along with President-elect Trump's information team, needs to get to the bottom of this issue. Not only must heads roll, but corruption must be rooted out from every agency that purports to secretly choose the nation's course.
An “intelligence community” that cannot be trusted to tell the truth is worse than no intelligence agencies at all.
