Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have settled their divorce after eight years.

In a statement to People magazine, Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, said that the couple signed the settlement yesterday.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” Simon said. “She and the children left all the property they shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that began eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved that this part is over. Deadline has reached out to Pitt's reps for comment.

The suit says Jolie and Pitt are waiving their right to any future financial support for the couple, without providing further details, according to the Associated Press.

This move ends, or moves to the next stage, one of the longest and most public marital breakups in recent Hollywood history.

The former Hollywood couple, who have won three Oscars between them, said in early 2017 that they would address their divorce in a private forum. A judge declared in 2019 that they were divorced and single, but the division of assets and custody of the children would have to be settled separately.

Two years ago, Jolie countersued over a dispute over the sale of half of her winery, which detailed a 2016 altercation, including Pitt being physically aggressive toward Jolie and their children. Pitt's lawyer previously said he would accept responsibility for some of his past actions but not for things he didn't do, and his representative said Jolie “continues to reframe, revise and reimagine” the altercation. The couple has six children, four of whom are now over 18 years old.

People magazine was the first to report the news.
