IPHONE users will never have to worry about low battery power again thanks to a strange new toaster-like gadget that delivers a boost of power instantly.
Irish startup Swippitt has invented the Instant Power System (IPS), which doubles your phone's battery life in just two seconds.

The device does not blast your phone with energy shots.
Instead, it uses a specially designed Swippitt Link phone case that has a smart battery hidden inside.
When you insert your iPhone into the Hub, the technology intelligently swaps the case's built-in battery with a fully charged battery, providing you with instant additional external charging.
The Swippitt Hub has five battery packs inside.
This means there are no wires or wireless charging stations that require you to wait.
The idea can be a lifesaver for phones that are about to die and have little time to charge before going straight out.
Swippitt is launching for iPhone 14, 15 and 16 models first.
But it will expand to support Android devices like Samsung Galaxy later in 2025.
The Sun obtained a demo of the gadget at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), a major tech event held in Las Vegas every year.
“We are thrilled to unveil Swippitt at CES,” said Swippitt President Padraic Connolly.
“We've created a user-friendly, easy-to-use, fast and sustainable way to keep phones running, solving one of the biggest frustrations for mobile phone users.
“Swippitt is the first instant energy system of its kind, and we believe it will make a big difference to people's lives.
“This technology will change the way people think about battery management and will help pave the way toward a smarter, simpler path to mobile operation.”
The Swippitt app also has advanced options like battery statistics and family safety features.
However, the product isn't cheap, with the hub costing $450 (£364) each and $120 (£97) per phone case.
Why do batteries get worse over time?
Here's what you need to know
- Most devices run on lithium-ion batteries
- Over time, the amount of charge that this type of battery can hold decreases
- This means that you need to charge your device more often because it holds less charge
- Batteries have two electrode points – the cathode and the anode
- To charge a battery, the ions inside the battery are pushed from the cathode to the anode
- When the battery is used, it moves in the opposite direction
- This process corrodes the anode's structure, reducing its ability to function properly
- But this process also leads to the accumulation of a type of salt on the cathode when charging
- As this buildup grows, the battery will accept less charge over time
- It is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 full charging cycles will reduce the maximum battery capacity by approximately 20%
