The NFL has finally made a decision on Drake London's punting penalty in Week 18.
The Atlanta Falcons played an exciting matchup against the Carolina Panthers in one of the games of the season.
The Panthers eventually got the W after overtime, with the game ending 44-38.
London, 23, finished a breakout season with an impressive performance.
The former first-round pick had 10 catches for 187 yards — a season-high — and two touchdowns.
He finished the season with 100 receptions, 1,271 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure a playoff spot as a defeat in the final game kept them out of the postseason.
London now have a tab to clear with the league after earning a cynical penalty in the defeat.
But fans were left shocked by the “soft” and “weak” call.
London caught a TD pass before halftime to give Atlanta a 24-17 lead.
Then he got up and stood over Panthers linebacker Shermar Bartholomew.
He was immediately reported by officials and the NFL has now confirmed that he will be fined $11,255.
Fans were outraged by the decision on social media.
“Did he get fined for scoring a touchdown? Got it,” one wrote.
Another added: “The NFL has had a personal issue with Drake London and his celebrations all season and it shows.
“They're quite good at defenses running across the field all the time after a damn turnover, though.”
Another said: “What a weak move from the NFL.”
Another couldn't believe the amount: “$11k to look at someone is crazy. How did they come up with Part 255. Such a random amount.”
What happens to the sweet money?
The NFL regularly fines athletes tens of thousands of dollars each week during the season.
But where does the money go?
The NFL claims that about $4 million annually has been used to support good causes since 2011.
According to the NFL's operations website, “Fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to Support Legends in Need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes at all levels, including youth football and the communities it supports. The game.”
London was previously fined for one of his TD celebrations – in Week 2 he pretended to shoot and was fined $14,069.
However, he regretted it, saying: “There are a lot of things going on in the world about gun violence that I don't think I should have put out there.
“So, I'm not very happy about that, and [you] “I'll probably never see that from me again.”
London was not the only Falcon to be fined in the match.
Running back Bijan Robinson was also hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth quarter — he will have to pay a $22,511 fine.
