Immersive SNL50 Experience Gives Fans A Chance To Feel Like A Host

In anticipation of Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary, NBC is launching an immersive experience inspired by Studio-8H to give fans the chance to feel what it's like to host the iconic comedy show.

For half a century of Saturday nights, viewers have tuned in and imagined what it would be like to step into the host's shoes on an episode, the network said. “Now they will finally have the opportunity to unveil the curtain” with the SNL50 experience.

“From the thrill of hearing your name announced as you storm through the stage doors to wheeling your chair to the Weekend Update desk, every attendee will experience both the on-camera magic and the off-camera rush of SNL; with surprises and reactions around every corner celebrating 50 years of iconic sketches.” And the characteristic spontaneity that has defined the series since 1975.

The experience will run from January 30 to February 2 at Rockefeller Center. Reservations will be free and open to the public (ages 18 and up), and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning January 14 before SNL's highly anticipated three-hour primetime broadcast. SNL50: Anniversary Specialairing live on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, February 16.

NBC's late-night comedy show has launched numerous careers and is the most Emmy-winning program in history with 101 wins, including awards for specials and miniseries. Created and still executive produced by Lorne Michaels, the show has won two Peabody Awards (1990 and 2009) and has been inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
