Jill Biden was seen holding Doug Emhoff's hand on top of Kamala Harris' hand as the vice president smiled nervously during a bizarre moment.
Gill, Emhoff and Harris sat close to each other in the Oval Office while President Joe Biden delivered his farewell address to the nation just feet away on Wednesday evening.

A photo of the three gathered showed them all holding hands in an emotional moment as the president spoke.
Jill looked like she was on the verge of tears as her husband spoke, while Harris looked uncomfortable with the large number of hands sitting on her lap.
Biden said during his speech that the Harris and Emhoff families have become “like family” to the president's family.
Reports from the White House said Gill reached out and grabbed Harris' hand when Joe thanked Harris and Emhoff for their support.
But Jill's hand-holding by Harris and Emhoff is not her first failed encounter with the second family.
Jill unexpectedly greeted Emhoff with a kiss on the lips before her husband's State of the Union address in February 2023.
The moment instantly went viral and became the subject of memes and speculation across the country.
The close friendship between Jill and Harris comes after the Wall Street Journal recently reported on a spat between the Harrises and Biden.
White House aides said things have been “chilly in private” since Harris lost the election to Donald Trump on November 5.
Jill has been holding a grudge against Harris since he opposed Vice President Joe on the debate stage in June 2019, sources said.
Additionally, eagle-eyed viewers caught icy moments between Jill and Harris during Jimmy Carter's funeral last week.
“What about the frostbite between Kamala and Dr. Gill,” one X user wrote.
“You can feel the cold from the picture.”
This comes as the First Lady also spoke out about her former friend, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
What will Biden's future look like?
After 50 years in politics, Americans may think that Joe Biden is finally ready to enjoy his retirement.
However, the president stressed that he is not going anywhere.
At 82, Biden is the oldest president in American history, but instead of settling into his home in Maryland with his wife, Jill, he said he “is not going away.”
“There are a lot of other things I want to do in terms of the Biden Institute and foreign policy, and the Biden Institute in Delaware on domestic policy,” he said in a September interview with The View.
“To keep the things going that we started and believe we can accomplish.”
Biden also reportedly has big plans to build a presidential library in his name, likely in his home state of Delaware.
At least one Biden administration ambassador has been enlisted to help raise funds for the project, according to the Associated Press.
Like many presidents before him, Biden will likely enjoy higher approval ratings after his exit as well.
His unpopularity hit a historic low during his final months, but as he fades into the background, people will likely remember him more fondly.
Many of his other endeavors are likely to be secret. Given his advanced age, he will almost certainly never hold another office and will secretly lead the Democratic Party.
Jill recently revealed that she was shocked and hurt by Pelosi's move to remove Biden from the White House.
“We've been friends for 50 years,” Jill said in an interview with The Washington Post published earlier on Wednesday.
“It was disappointing.”
Regardless of the disagreement with Pelosi, any hard feelings between Biden and Harris appeared to go out the window during Joe's farewell speech on Wednesday night.

Hunter Biden and his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, sat across from Jill as she walked toward Harris and Emhoff.
The title lasted just under 18 minutes.
The president warned Americans against “unchecked” power, saying that figures with enormous wealth and power threaten democracy.
“Today, a minority government is forming in America that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights, their freedoms, and fair opportunities for all to move forward,” he said.
Biden will leave the White House when Trump takes office on January 20.
