The nominees for the fifth edition of the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award have been announced.

The five contestants are a golfer Aditi Ashokarchers Manu Bhaker and Avani LekharaCricketer Smriti Mandhana And a wrestler Finish Foghat.

The award recognizes the contributions of Indian women athletes in 2024 and celebrates the achievements of all women involved in sports in the country.

You can vote for the Indian Sportswoman of the Year on any of the BBC Hindi websites, or on the BBC Sports website.

A panel selected by the BBC has compiled the shortlist of the five Indian sportswomen. The judging panel includes some of the most trusted journalists, experts and sportswriters across India.

The female athlete who receives the most public votes will be the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year, with the results broadcast on the BBC Hindi websites and the BBC Sports website.

Voting will remain open to the public until Friday, January 31, 2025 at 18:00 GMT (23:30 EDT) and the winner will be announced on Monday, February 17, 2025 at a ceremony in Delhi.

At the ceremony, the BBC will also honor three other female athletes nominated by the judging panel in the categories: BBC Young Player of the Year AwardTo recognize the achievements of the young athlete; BBC Lifetime Achievement Awardcelebrating sports veterans for their unparalleled contribution to sports; and BBC Para Athlete of the Year AwardTo highlight excellence in sports for people with special needs.
