Bags of Costco's cauliflower rice have now been removed from shelves, according to a Reddit poster who spoke to an employee.

The post read: “Bad news Today…I just found out that Costco has discontinued bags of cauliflower rice that were a staple in my house.

“They have cauliflower fried rice now, but it's a different product at a different price. What a problem.”

Commenters took to the post to express their grief news.

“At least for me, I want a basic rice mixture that I can incorporate into dishes,” one person wrote.

“It's not something with pre-seasoning or other ingredients. It's unfortunate they're removing it from stores.”

Another Reddit user said: “What a waste! Plain rice cauliflower has been my new favorite addition to the smoothie.”

“It doesn't add any weird flavors but it brings more nutrients and makes it creamier.”

It is not known why Costco decided to remove the product from its inventory.

Costco inspection problems

Costco was recently criticized by one of its customers for its poor self-checkout system.

Great new dinnerware and exciting changes from Costco

“Costco is ridiculous about self-checkout,” one angry shopper said in a post on X earlier in January.

Although the goal of self-checkout is to create a quick and efficient checkout process for customers, they said that wasn't the case at their local store.

Instead, they were constantly stopped by Costco employees to check identification and verify receipt.

“The few times I tried to use it, a staff member interrupted me. Why would I even do that?” asked the shopper.

This reportedly prompted them to choose to shop at Sam's Club instead.

In addition, the store has faced criticism for additional checks at its self-service stations, including newly installed scanners at the entrances to its warehouses.

But the latter left customers divided.

Those who feel particularly aggrieved are those who say their relatives cannot buy goods because of the crackdown.

“I absolutely hate the new card scanners at entry!” Natalie Gunter posted on X.

“Horrible experience, please change your policy.”

Günther complained that selection seemed to have been excluded.

“If I want to send my child or a babysitter to bring me food, that's my membership,” she explained.

“I should be allowed to do that.”

This policy is in place to prevent people from abusing the Costco Subscription Program.
