with Night agent Returning for its sophomore season, fans can expect more “night action” from its star.

Ahead of the second season of the conspiracy thriller, which returns on January 23 on Netflix, star Gabriel Basso talked about taking hits and doing his own stunts as FBI agent Peter Sutherland.

“I think this can be misunderstood in the world of like, 'I do it because I want to say I can do it, and it's not really about that,'” he explained. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “For me it's about immersing myself in the audience.”

Basu continued, “I don't want the audience to watch the show, and right after that I'm about to get hit or thrown on my back, you know. I feel like it's a lie. I enjoy acting, I don't like lying. There's just a difference.”

“And for the audience's immersion, for the believability, they love Peter [and] Watching him take hits is important, I feel. If that requires me to throw myself into a wall, so be it. He added that it is not the end of the world.

The actor also had to renew his skydiving certification after Netflix brought it up as an idea, and then I was like, “Oh, I've already skydived.” I will do it. But then the insurance company called and said, “Yes, stop that.”

Written by Sean Ryan and based on the novel by Matthew Quirk. Night agent Agent Basso follows Sutherland as he is thrown into a conspiracy about a spy at the highest levels of the United States government. Season 2 sees Peter reunited with cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Lucien Buchanan) in a race to save Manhattan from a terrorist attack.

Earlier this week, the Season 2 premiere in New York was canceled in light of the wildfires in Southern California.
