Prime Video Japan has a new Regional Director in Keisuke Oishi.
Effective today, the former Sony Corp. executive will take over the position after rising through the ranks over a decade at Amazon. Oishi will report to Gaurav Gandhi, Vice President of Prime Video, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.
He replaces Takashi Kodama, who left Prime Video late last year to lead Amutus Corporation, the parent company of Japanese digital manga publisher Mecha Comic, according to Kodama's LinkedIn posts. We've reached out to Amazon for clarity.
Media Partners Asia last year ranked Prime Video as the largest streaming company in Japan by subscribers, making Oishi's new role vital to Amazon's business. He will oversee businesses including SVOD, add-on subscriptions, TVOD and live sports. Amazon said he “will lead efforts to strengthen its position as the number one entertainment destination for customers in Japan.”
Oishi most recently served as Director and General Manager of Amazon Music Japan after being promoted in 2023. After joining Amazon in 2014, he held several key roles, including Head of Software and Video Games and Director of Entertainment Media. Before that, he worked at Sony.
