Alexander Zverev continued his quest for his first Grand Slam title with a victory over Tommy Paul to reach the semi-finals of the Australian Open.
The second-seeded German defeated the twelfth-seeded American 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (7-0), 2-6, 6-1 at Rod Laver Arena.
This victory is the seventh in a row for Zverev (27 years old), and he continues his unbeaten start this season.
“I should have been two sets down,” Zverev said. “He played better than me and I didn’t play great.”
“The fourth set was definitely the best I played and I'm happy to be back in the semi-finals.”
Zverev previously reached the semi-finals at Melbourne Park in 2020 and 2024.
He will play either Novak Djokovic, the ten-time champion, or Carlos Alcaraz – who beat Zverev in the French Open final last year – in the semi-finals this year.
The match will be Zverev's ninth Grand Slam semifinal – the most among active players who have never won a major.
