New Orleans residents are making the most of a rare snowstorm and frigid temperatures that turned the streets of the French Quarter into an ice hockey rink on Tuesday.
A video posted to social media by Fox8 reporter Olivia Vidal shows a man wearing a pair of skates, a hockey stick and a puck on ice-covered Canal Street in the Crescent City.
One of the busiest blocks in all of New Orleans, Canal Street is completely empty and quiet except for the lone skater and videographer capturing this rare sight.
Snow blanketed the Big Easy on Tuesday, with Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport receiving 8 inches, the most in a single storm since records were first kept in 1948, according to the National Weather Service.
Winter Storm Enzo dumped several inches of snow across several Southern states including Texas, Florida and Louisiana.
The storm was hailed as a once-in-a-generation event by meteorologists.
More snow is expected to fall along the southeast coast overnight into Wednesday, with more freezing conditions expected to add to the headache or joy of snow-stricken Southerners.
