Kayla Nicholl, Travis Kelce's ex-girlfriend, joked that she “knows someone on the inside” while discussing Sunday's upcoming AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and Bills.
During a recent episode of the “I Am Athlete Daily” podcast, former NFL running back Brandon Marshall asked Kayla for his opinion on the matchup because she used to be a member of Chiefs Kingdom while dating the Kansas City Chiefs star on and off from 2017 through 2022.
“I'm not trying to be messy, that's a real question,” Marshall said. “You know what it's like to watch the Chiefs and be in it, and be a part of it, whether you're sitting on the field in a suite. What makes Patrick Mahomes so dynamic because there's been so many games where it's come down to the wire…what makes it so [him] Very special?
Kayla, 32, explained that Mahomes is a “student of the game” before ditching her former name and said he knows how to guard the football.
“I think there's nothing like this environment. “This is the loudest stadium in the league,” the influencer began. “The energy is crazy. I think Patrick is also just an experienced vet at this point – no panic, no snap decisions. This is a calculated crime. He studies the game like everyone else, oh my gosh, yeah that's all he does. He is a student of the game.
“Then I got [Chiefs coach] Andy Reid, I think his playbook is crazy. This is a well-known fact about him. Their offense is OD, they have guys that can throw the ball to them and they won't drop it in the end zone. Travis Kelce – This is a tight end that won't do that. They got threats. So as much as I would love to see someone else in the Super Bowl, just to see something new, it's not going to happen.
When asked how she knew Mahomes, 29, was a student of the game, Kayla joked: “I don't know…I know someone on the inside.”
The “Special Forces” personality went on to say that she hopes Bills quarterback Josh Allen can lead his team to the Super Bowl because she's tired of the Chiefs' dominance.
“As much as I would love to see Josh succeed, I don't know if that's going to happen… [It’s] “Something new,” Kayla said when asked why she supports the bills. “I'm bored.”
Kayla and Kelsey, 35, dated for five years, and during that time, she became close friends with Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes.
The former couple were part of the wedding party when Mahomes and Brittany, 29, married in Hawaii in March 2022.
Kelsey has publicly moved on with pop star Taylor Swift, and the duo is set to step out together in October 2023.
Kayla previously spoke about receiving negative attention on social media due to Kelsey and Swift's relationship.
