The stove was finally heated in Atlanta.
After a relatively quiet start to the offseason, the Braves agreed to a three-year, $42 million deal with outfielder Juricson Profar.
He will make $12 million in 2025 and $15 million in each of the next two seasons.
Profar, one of the top prospects in baseball when he was called up to the majors with the Rangers in 2012, had fits and starts throughout his big league career, but is back in his own right in 2024 with the Padres.
He collected career bests in home runs (24), OPS (.839) and RBIs (85) in his first season as an All-Star.
His 4.3 WAR, according to Fangraphs, represents the high-water mark of his career.

Profar, 31, has the ability to play in the outfield and in the outfield, but he played all of last year in left field, except for two games at first base.
If he does step into left field, he will join the outfield with Michael Harris in center and 2023 National League Player of the Year Ronald Acuna Jr., once he is good to return from the torn ACL he suffered last May.
