While England manager Steve Borthwick lost Jamie George, Jack van Poortvliet and back row Alex Dombrandt to injury, O'Connell also reported a clean bill of health for Ireland eight days after the Aviva Stadium encounter.
Dan Sheehan and James Lowe will feature for Leinster in Saturday's United Rugby Championship match against the Storm before linking up with the squad in Portugal, while prop Jack Boyle (Leinster) and scrum-half Caolin Blede (Connacht) will also feature for their clubs this weekend.
While the island of Ireland was battered by Storm éowyn over the past 24 hours, the national rugby team enjoyed the surroundings at Quinta Do Lago, which has become a regular stop for the team ahead of big campaigns in recent years.
“It's a little bit of a change of scenery. When we come here, the players definitely enjoy it,” O'Connell said.
“It's a great training facility, they're really enjoying the hotel. I suppose there's a bit of a 'we're with Ireland now' feeling.”
“We are out of the country and there is this special experience because it is a great week. The training ground there is beautiful.
“We have a lot of meetings outdoors because of the weather. Generally, you stay on the pitch a little longer, you can have other conversations with the players.”
