The Los Angeles Olympics will go ahead as planned despite widespread city fires this month, broadcasters have been told.
At least 28 people have been confirmed dead in the fires, which burned in the Altadena area and the Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
More than 100,000 people were evacuated and more than 12,000 structures burned in scenes of horror.
Officials at Warner Bros. Discovery talks with the International Olympic Committee after the tragedy but it has been confirmed that it is business as usual.
Scott Young is SVP content, production and business operations for WBD Sports Europe, which will broadcast the next four summer and winter games in the UK.
“There is no hype or discussion at the moment that it will have any impact on LA 2028,” he said.
“The tragedy of these fires in Los Angeles is the focus now and no one is looking away down the road.
“No infrastructure has been significantly affected, so they are not looking to rebuild anything needed for the Olympics.
“The priority now is about people, rebuilding homes and infrastructure that were damaged.”
The LA Olympics are expected to begin on July 14, 2028 and will run until July 30.
The Paralympics will follow between August 15 and August 27.
This is the third time the Olympic Games have been held in Los Angeles.
The games first arrived in the American country in 1932 and returned in 1984.
