DJ Unk, ‘Walk It Out’ rapper, dead at 43

DJ Unk, the Atlanta rapper best known for his hits “Walk It Out” and “Two Step,” has died. It was 43.

Born Anthony Leonard Platt, UNK died Friday, according to a statement from Korey “Big Oomp” Roberson, who founded the record label Big Oomp Records, which signed UNK in 2000.

His wife, Sherkita Long Bhat, confirmed the news in a Facebook post.

The cause of death has not been revealed.

“DJ Onk was not only a legendary DJ, rapper and producer, but a true cornerstone of our label and the mark he left globally forever,” Roberson wrote in a statement provided to The Atlanta Journal.

He continued, “Songs like 'Walk It Out' and 'Two Step' have left an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will continue to inspire artists, DJs, and fans alike for years to come. His energy, creativity, and commitment to the craft will never be forgotten.”

Robinson concluded, “We ask that you keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also want to thank everyone who has supported DJ UNK and Camp Oomp over the years.”

In her Facebook post, Sherkita Long-Platt asked for privacy.

“Please respect me and my family. I lost my husband and my children only lost their father.” “Our lives will never be the same. I love you forever Anthony.”
