Australian singer Amy Shark got her big break on screen, thanks to fellow Antipodean Russell Crowe.

The Oscar-winning actor cast the singer in his film A monster inside mecurrently filming is taking place in Thailand.

Shark posted a photo of herself in transit, complete with text, on her social media, adding the caption: “Bangkok next week to be a movie star.”

Shark will play Crowe's daughter in the film, which is described as a “mixed martial arts-infused revenge story,” News.com.au reported. She will join actors Danielle Macpherson, Luke Hemsworth and Brian Foster in the film, which is directed by Tyler Atkins.

In addition to her Instagram post, Shark made a video for her fans on TikTok where she captioned herself “Amy Shark – Actress 2025.”

Crowe is reported to have partnered with Singapore-based One Championship, receiving permission to film at an indoor stadium in Bangkok, and use live fight footage in his film.

Crowe won an Oscar for his role as Maximus in Ridley Scott's epic Gladiator (2001) and was also nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture The insider (1999) and Beautiful mind (2001). He met Shark when the singer pulled him on stage to sing with her at a concert in Canberra in 2023.

This will be Shark's first acting role, following huge success in the music industry. Originally from the Gold Coast in Australia, she has won 8 Australian Music Industry ARIA Awards and received 29 nominations in total.
