Channel 4 has made a documentary following the emotional journey of Palestinian director and journalist Yousef Hammash, who was displaced six months after Gaza was profiled to global outrage.
in This is Gaza, Hammash, part of the News Channel 4 team that won Emmys and Baftas for Israel Hammash war reporting, is in front of the camera for the first time to tell his story.
Hamash spent years reporting from the Gaza Strip. His early reporting in the wake of the devastating October 7 Hamas attack sparked outrage, but made him and his family a target, and he was displaced six months later. In the doc, observing his footage, he charts his family's displacement and his sudden decision to leave his home as he travels south to his shelf. Takes on the before, during and after the series of seismic events ignited by October 7.
Hamash traveled to Edinburgh last year to speak at the TV Festival about how he was shunned by his community simply for doing his job and being a journalist.
