UBER offers free rides to help teens without a license get around.
The ride-sharing company's new initiative is helping teens who fail their road test by offering free rides for a month.
“Teens, we've got you covered so you can take your next test,” Uber said in a statement.
Uber's offer covers up to six trips, up to $20 each.
The promotion began on January 9 and is available until March 31, 2025.
But there is a catch.
“This promotion is only valid for teen users who have never ridden or ordered a car from Uber and/or have an existing Uber teen account,” Uber’s website stated.
So those who want to take advantage of the deal must have an Uber account for teens.
Parents will also need to determine which part of the teen failed the driving test and why.
The deal is available to children ages 13-17 on the Uber app with legal guardian consent.
In the application, you will be asked to enter some basic information.
Parents can link their teen's Uber account to their family profile and get alerts when their child requests a ride.
However, the promotion is not valid in California.
After submission and confirmation, Uber will apply the promo code to the applicant's account.
The offer is aimed at attracting new riders, meaning those who have already signed up and are using the app will not be able to benefit.
“We know being a teenager is hard enough, especially if your driving test doesn't go as planned,” Georgie Jeffries, Uber's head of marketing for North America, told Scary Mommy.
“Whether it's a ride home from school or to the mall with friends, we make it easier for teens to stay mobile and independent until they can get back on the road,” she said.

Driving is an important life skill, and failing your driving test can be a setback for some time.
USA Today reported that 34% of people in New York fail the driver's license test, placing the state 18th in the nation for test failure rates.
Between 2020 and 2023, approximately 35% of people in the United States will fail the written driver's license or skills test.
Indiana, Missouri, and Wyoming had the highest failure rates, with more than half of test takers in these states not passing.
“It's an 8- to 10-minute process and everyone messes it up, they're not equipped,” Johnny Scott, a lead instructor at ABC Driving School in Rochester, told Spectrum News.
One of the most common mistakes during driving tests is exceeding the speed limit by one to five miles per hour and failing to check blind spots.
If a driver collects 30 points for violations, he fails the road test.
