A 15-year-old boy stormed a small regional airport in Arkansas with an AR rifle while he was demanding a plane until he was arrested by a “heroic” pilot who ran and grabbed his own rifle, according to the officials.
The unknown teenager entered the identity in flying, a company at Texarkana Regional Airport, around 7:30 am on Tuesday and headed to the front counter, a gun and a pistol, demanding the plane and reaching the airport, according to police and airport officials.
The airport told CNN, the teenager downloaded a tour of the room, sending employees running to a back office where they closed the door and contacted the police.
Then the boy left and headed towards the airport, where he was seen by a local private pilot.
Officials said the pilot ran and grabbed his rifle from his truck, then he faced the boy and ordered him to the ground.
The airport said that the teenager had complied and was eventually detained by the Arkansasa-Teskana Police-who found another rifle in a car used by the 15-year-old.
The ministry said in a statement, “The Arkansas Police Department is praising the heroic work by the local pilot,” the ministry said in a statement.
He added: “The fact that this incident was quickly solved and Muslim, despite the extreme danger that was presented, is worth praise.”
The ordeal lasted for about 10 minutes, according to airport manager Paul Mehslich.
“We are very grateful for lack of injuries, no life was lost, but in fact it was through the actions of this pilot and the distinguished aviation employees, their actions saved lives,” Mserich said to Outlet Kla.
Police officers said that the teenage boy, who was not from the area, was arrested on charges of aggravated attack, and tried to strict her and terrorist threats.
His motive is still unclear. He was transferred to the Event detention center in Arkansas.
