Sir Jino, one of the most important favorite candidates for the Shaltinham Festival next month, was accepted at the Horse Hospital while he was outside this season.
The favorite Arkle Chase, who was trained by Nikki Henderson, was excluded from his intended tour in Newbury on Saturday with a leg wound.
But this injury is now infected and requires hospital treatment.
Henderson said: “Unfortunately, Sir Gino's position has deteriorated somewhat and was accepted at the Horse Hospital,” Henderson said.
As a result of the initial examination of Donnington Grove, the infection invaded ligaments in the nearby back leg.
“This will require a lengthy treatment that will unfortunately be saddened by any other race this season.
“This is a horrific blow [owners] Joe, Mary Donlley and everyone in seven barose, but we will do our best to help this amazing bright light to full fitness next season. “
Sir Gino, five -year -old, won all his six life races and was very impressive when he beat Paliporen to win in Kimpton in December in his first race on the walls.
Despite the loss of Spirit Chase in Newbury, Sir Jino preferred about 8-11 for Arkle on the opening day of Cheltenham on March 11.
In his absence, Magburu, coach of Willie Mullins, presides over the year 8-13, with L'Auu du Sud 5-1.
