Chris Skaleli, the owner of the handicapped medal twice, announced his retirement from Judo.
The 31 -year -old, who suffers from visual weakness, won gold at a -100 kg event in Tokyo in 2021 and followed with a bronze in the +90 kg section in Paris last year.
“It is a difficult decision, but the right decision,” he said. “I spent a great time to do the sport I love.
“Judo saved me. This purpose gave me the purpose and life I always wanted and I will always be grateful.”
Skelley, who was born in Nottingham but grew up in Hull, seized five -year -old judo. He began to lose his 17 -year -old eyesight, forcing him to end vocational training as a mechanic.
He joined the 19 -year -old British British and won European and international titles before his disabled victory.
