Stockdale's return to physical fitness comes at a time when his Irish international colleagues, Stuart McClaski and James Hume, returned after long attacks.
McClaski was out due to a knee string injury that suffered from Monster on December 20, while his teammate at Hume Center did not play after this season after suffering a serious knee injury against Cardiff last April.
“I feel that the Queensland Reds game was good for a few of us who came out to return from long -term injuries,” said Stockell.
“It was good for me to return to the field, but it was good to see Hume Westo (McClaski) again.
“There were a few of the lungs that were seized there in the first few minutes, but it was good.”
The experienced trio returned to reinforce Ulster on the UNIDY RUGBY (URC) trip to Benetton on Saturday evening.
The Richie Murphy team fell to the ninth place in the ranking and returned to the league for the first time since their house was defeated against Ziprei on January 26.
While Ulster has won only five out of 14 games in all competitions this season, Stockdle believes that there were valuable lessons for the least experienced members in the team.
“I think it is an educational year for younger men, but it is also an opportunity to perform. Every time you skip the field, it is an opportunity to perform.
“For those young people who play every week, it's the baptism of fire, but there is something you should wake up with.
“I think there is an opportunity for us to do the basic things better and we hope for the next two weeks, we will start seeing this.
“The young boys who really attended were good, they were raw, and they have a long way, but they were effective in their performance.”
