Jacob Kepolimo of Uganda became the first person to run in a half -marathon race less than 57 minutes, when he broke the world record in 48 seconds in Barcelona.
The 24 -year -old ran 56 minutes and 42 seconds to Eclipse Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha, the former global record of 57:30 in Valencia in October.
Kiplimo is the best improved improved in the half -marathon record in the men's world.
“I am very excited about what I did today,” said the previous bronze medal with an area of 10,000 meters in the world championship.
“I wanted to get a great race, but I did not expect to break the world record.
“I started very strong in the first two kilometers to get away from my competitors. With the passage of kilometers and I saw that I would go at a record pace, I told myself that I had to keep this pace regardless of what it takes.”
He also put a world better than 39:47 versus 15 km during the global athletics event, which was held in perfect conditions of 13 degrees Celsius without wind.
Kepelo, Jeffrey Camoror, ranked second (58:44) before Samuel Milo in Kenya (59:40).
