Donald Trump was directly weighing directly on his efforts to freeze the Associated Press from the White House events because the news service refused to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.
AP, the White House Representatives Association and the first amendment groups condemned the behavior of the White House as an effort to punish journalists for the content they hate. Trump put himself as restoring freedom of expression to the federal government, but they used various tactics to try to stop the media.
Speaking to the journalists in Mar Lago today, Trump said: “The Associated Press rejects only going with the law, and what happened. It is called the Gulf of America now. It is not called the Gulf of Mexico anymore. I have the right to do so.”
“We will remove them until they agree that it is the Gulf of America.”
He also pointed to AP coverage for him, the Republicans and the conservatives, and said: “They do not do any favorites and I think I do not do them.”
AP was banned last week from the oval offices gathering, and then from attending a press conference and traveling on Air Force One. The declared reason was the decision of the news organization to keep the GULF of Mexico in its style guide after Trump signed an executive order to rename it as the Gulf of America.
AP said that the decision was taken to keep the name of the Gulf of Mexico because it is an international water group. AP noticed that Trump's order “only carries power within the United States. Mexico, as well as other countries and international bodies, they should not learn about the change of name.” AP said he still admits the name Trump.
AP spokesman AP immediately did not respond to a request to comment on Trump's latest comments.
