After the former captain Matt Grames turned into the competitors of the Coventry City in January, Kabango was announced as a new captain of the club.
Williams then left the Swansea Stadium on February 17 after a round of eight defeats in 10 games since the beginning of the year.
But Kabango says he has the role of leading the team after he was a turbulent talisman in the club.
“It was a crazy month, in January with Grimesy Going, it was a shock to everyone and then the manager left,” said Kabango.
“I think it is as a team that we just adhered to. Today it shows that we have a good team, although it was two difficult weeks, we really stood up today and performed well.”
On the captain, Kabango said: “I think I was always a captain, and I am always vocal on the field and I am trying to help others.
“There is a little more responsibility, I want to be the person they are looking for and make sure that the standards are constantly correct.”
Swansea returns to Work in Preston North End on Tuesday, March 4 (19:45 GMT).
