White House journalist Caroline Levitte said that the White House will now determine which outlets will be members of the press group, a smaller group of journalists who are allowed to enter events such as the appearance of oval offices and events in Mar Lago.
For years, the White House Representative Association has dealt with logistics services in the press group, including identifying the outlets that will be appointed to the duty and when they will participate. The group designed to prevent administration from taking revenge on journalists who do not care.
In briefing, Levitte said the change would open the pool to more news.
She said, “It will allow the old outlets that have participated in the press group decades ago to join, but we will also provide the outlets of the outlets that were absolutely not allowed to participate in this wonderful responsibility.”
She said they will continue to rotate between the main five networks “to ensure the president's notes on a large scale around this world.”
The Associated Press filed a lawsuit against Levitt and other White House officials last week after being banned from participating in the complex, as well as other events in the White and Presidential House. The White House was clear that the restriction was because AP failed to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Trump has signed an executive thing that changes the name, but was not recognized by other countries, given that it includes international waters.
On Monday, a judge refused to restore AP immediately, and set a quick timetable in the case. It was found that the work of the White House was “a problem”, given that the declared reason was more than the AP content. Judge, Trefor McFaden, admitted the restrictions imposed on reaching the various events of the White House, but it seemed concerned about the aforementioned White House to restrict AP.
It was not immediately clear whether the White House procedure to control billiard tasks may affect litigation.
Whica is a non -profit organization, consisting of White House correspondents, and it runs the pool and sitting courses in the briefing room.
