The billionaire described technology and the chief White House adviser, Elon Musk, Senator Mark Kelly, as a “traitor” on Monday after Kelly returned from a visit to Ukraine, focusing on the need for Americans to support the war -torn nation.
Kelly, the former NASA astronaut and US Navy, spent the weekend in Ukraine, a country that is fighting with a Russian invasion for more than three years.
His visit coincided with President Donald Trump pushing a quick solution to the conflict, which was shaking US foreign policy as it turned towards Moscow and stopped military aid to Kiev.
“He left Ukraine just. What I saw stressed that we cannot give up the Ukrainian people. Everyone wants this war to end, but any agreement to protect Ukraine and should not surrender to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin,”
Kelly posted on the social media platform X.
“Donald Trump is trying to undermine Ukraine's position, and we deserve an explanation for that,”
He added in another post regarding his journey.
Musk, the richest individual in the world and a major donor to Trump, responded to Kelly on X with sharp,
“You are a traitor.”
Kelly soon released, saying,
“A traitor? Illon, if you cannot see that defending freedom is a basic principle of what makes America great and remain in safety, it may be better to leave it to those of us who do it.” At a later time, Musa pointed out that he is “not a serious man.”
He suggested that he focus on building missiles instead, according to NBC.
