OSCAR PIASSTRI signed a new contract with McLaren, which the team says will keep with them “in the long run.”

The 23 -year -old Australian, who won the Grands Grands Award last year, was contracted to fourth in the world championship in its second season in Formula 1, until the end of 2026.

The results of PiaSSTRI, along with his teammate Lando Norris in the Driver Championship, won the McLaren creation title last year for the first time since 1998.

“Not only Oscar is an incredibly talented driver, but his work ethics and cultural suitability within the team made it unlike the mind to extend his time in Babaya,” Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren told race.

“We got the best driver collection on the network, and in the past two seasons, we have seen the assets of Oscar inside and outside the path.

“It was very essential to add to our legacy with the 2024 facility last season, so we are all enthusiastic about knowing what we can do in the coming years with the continued fighting for the world championship together.”

PiaSSTRI said: “It is a great feeling knowing that I am part of McLaren's long -term vision.

“There are a lot of talented and private people who work in McLaren who helped me become a winner of the Formula 1 race very early in my career. So, I am very proud to continue to represent this legendary team for many years to come.”

McLaren's statement was deliberately mysterious along the delicate PiaSSTRI contract, but the language in the release alongside its previous contract indicates that he is now committed to the team until the end of 2028 at least.

Last year, Norris signed a new contract that the team said would be committed to McLaren at least until the end of 2026.

Brown, team manager Andrea Stella, coach, air dynamics, Peter Produmu, have signed all longer contracts with McLaren.

Stella said the new contract for PiaSSTRI was “a symbol of our faith and confidence in it as a driver.”

The Italian added: “He continued to prove the extent of admiration in terms of his talent, design and work ethics as a driver and his contribution to our team and our culture as a person.

“Besides Lando, we have what we need to lock it in the long run to continue paying forward.”
